A man has appeared at Kirkcaldy District Court charged with the murder of Latvian national Aleksandrs Sokolovs
Sergejs Samarin, 28, of no fixed abode, was remanded in custody and is expected to appear again on May 1.
The body of 29-year-old Sokolovs was discovered at a flat in Tummel Road in Balfarg area of Glenrothes on April 13.
Samarin was charged last week with attempting to pervert the course of justice, but on Wednesday he was charged with murder appearing on petition today (Friday).
He now faces charges of murder and assault.
In statement issued by Mr Sokolovs’ family through the police earlier this week, they said: “Aleksandrs was a very friendly person who loved to travel and experience different cultures.
“He was a loving son and brother and will be missed by all persons who knew him.”
