A KIRKCALDY couple who met at the town’s ice rink when they were teenagers have been celebrating 60 years of marriage.
Jim and Nancy Walker, who are both originally from Kirkcaldy, toasted the special milestone by enjoying a party with friends and family at the Victoria Hotel on Friday.
Jim (83), and Nancy (82), were courting for five years before they tied the knot at Dunnikier Church on August 11, 1951.
Nancy worked as a shop assistant in Marks and Spencer before she married and Jim worked for Lewis C Grant Ltd, which was once based in Dysart.
Jim started work at the factory, which made rice milling machinery, when he left school and was employed there for 52 years before he retired at the age of 68.
Nancy went back to work at Marks and Spencer once her family grew up and she retired from the town store when she was 60.
The couple have two sons Brian and Ronnie; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
