999 service fixed in Fife after morning disruption

The 999 emergency service is back up and running in Fife.

The number went down across significant parts of east Scotland this morning – resulting in extra officers being put on patrol.

The impact was felt in Fife and Tayside.

BT engineers reported the loss of service, although 999 was still accessible on mobile phones.

They have now resolved the issue and it is running as normal.
