TINSEL the snake is continuing to recover after being discovered out in the cold near a Leven supermarket.

But how the sleek serpent came to be outside Leven’s Lidl last week remains a mystery.

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after the yellow-coloured reptile was spotted on a chilly Wednesday night by a member of the public near the School Lane store.

The animal welfare charity was called to pick up the albino kingsnake and named it Tinsel, while caring for it at the Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Assistant manager Kenny Sharpe told the Mail: “Tinsel wasn’t in a great condition on arrival but is eating well and showing good signs of recovery.

“As yet, we haven’t received any information about an owner and how Tinsel came to be found outside a supermarket.”

The Scottish SPCA would like to find out more about Tinsel’s plight and anyone with information should contact its animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
