A little Peace of good news for the Daisies

Local music duo The Coaltown Daisies are set to play the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh next month - after winning a competition.

Vivienne Bern and Lynzy Moutter will provide support for actress and musician Heather Peace, at her gig in the capital on October 25.

The chance to play at the prestigious venue comes after the Daisies posted a video of themselves performing as part of an online competition that Heather was running to find a support act for each of her tour dates.

Heather (inset) will be recognised by many for her television appearances in the likes of ‘London’s Burning’, ‘Emmerdale’, ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Casualty’, and ‘Waterloo Road’, but since 2012 she has been concentrating on a solo music career.

Lynzy explained: “Heather was running an online competition searching for support acts for her tour. Fans who have become friends of ours forwarded a link to the competition. We don’t normally do these things but we thought we’d give it a shot.”

The ladies entered by submitting a video and the competition ran on social media with people liking and sharing links to their favourite video.

Lynzy continued: “We ended up being shortlisted and were one of a number that appeared on Heather Peace’s website.

“Over a period of about a week and a half people could vote on the videos on her website.

“They were then broken down into a shortlist for each area for people to vote on.

“We got through that to the final three and it was up to Heather to pick the winners, and thankfully she picked us.

“It’s totally amazing. We’re absolutely ecstatic.

“We’ve been at the Queen’s Hall and seen a lot of people play there in the past. We thought it would be amazing to play there, and now we’ve got that chance.

“It will be an incredible experience. It’s the kind of venue that we will thrive in - it’s the right size with the right audience.”

Over the last few years Heather’s music career has been going from strength to strength since releasing her debut album, ‘Fairytale’.

Speaking to the Press Heather said: “We had a huge number of entries from some incredible talent and making the choices was really difficult.

“But I found myself humming the Coaltown Daisies song long after I had finished listening and I really wanted to hear it live. I’m looking forward to seeing them in Edinburgh.”
