A taste of Fife for food lovers at Crail

Thousands of people flocked to Crail at the weekend to enjoy the town’s fourth annual food festival where families enjoyed a carnival atmosphere at the harbour, the focus for the weekend’s events.

A packed two-day programme saw visitors have their taste buds titillated by an alphabet of food from Arbroath smokies to waffles.

Lunch at the harbour on Sunday was a highlight of the event with festival-goers choosing their food and drink from stallholders to eat al fresco to the gentle sound of a jazz saxophonist.

Venison burgers, waffles and crepes, beer and wine were just some of the delicious food on offer.

There was even the opportunity to make your own smoothie - by pedal-powering the smoothie maker for the Fife Diet team who were on hand to promote the benefits of eating locally produced food.

Elsewhere in the family-focused day there was a food trail round Crail including the House of Sugar, with its host of sweet delights, and The Kirk Hall was transformed into a professional Chef’s Theatre playing host to a series of cookery demonstrations from some of Fife’s finest chefs.

World Gin Day was celebrated on Saturday, a busy producers market featured advice on food and drink pairings, and for the youngsters there were special cookery classes and storytelling sessions with Mrs Mash.
