Twelve volunteers have signed up to meet and greet patients and visitors at Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital.
These hospital helpers, based at the main entrance of the new wing, are often the first point of contact for many of the patients and visitors.
Tina Chapman, general hospitals and maternity services project co-ordinator, said: “We’ve had some really positive feedback from visitors and patients. Going to hospital can be an anxious time for many and unfamiliar surroundings can be daunting for some. We hope having a friendly face to greet people when they arrive will help make coming to hospital a more pleasant experience.”
One on the greeters, Norrie Gordon from Glenrothes, said: “I’m thoroughly enjoying being a greeter. I feel like I’m doing something worthwhile, like I’m giving something back to the community.”
