A915 Upper Largo to St Andrews to be improved

A 60k programme of improvement works to the A915 road between Upper largo and St Andrews has been approved.

The works will involve renewing road markings, improving road surfaces - especially at bends - and introducing more road studs.

Between 2010 and 2014 there were 94 accidents on the A915, one fatal and three considered serious.

The majority of all accidents occurred in daylight but wet or icy conditions were also a key factor.

Hotspots included Wester Newburn and Lahill Mains.

Levenmouth Area Committee also heard the vast majority of incidents on the A915 involved local drivers, despite the route’s popularity with tourists.
