The works, made possible thanks to investment of £202,000, will begin this Sunday (February 28) at 7.30pm and are programmed to take place over five nights.

A convoy system will be used during the works from 7.30pm until 6.30am each morning to ensure the safety of the work force and the travelling public.

The convoy will be lifted outside of these hours.

Consultation has taken place with local residents in advance of the resurfacing to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Commenting on the improvements, Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s north east unit representative, said: “These works will improve the general condition and safety of the road for motorists, repairing any existing defects in the surface.

“We’ve planned these works to take place overnight to avoid peak traffic times to keep disruption to a minimum, however we’d encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org or twitter @ trafficscotland.
