PLANS to build new affordable homes in Largoward have been given the green light by councillors.

The commitment comes after a £1.198 million grant from the Scottish Government was presented to support developments by Fife Council and housing association groups.

Councillors at the executive committee approved plans to use the money provided to build six homes for social rent in Hall Park, Largoward, by Kingdom Housing Association as well as 30 others in Falkland and 12 in Dunfermline.

Councillor David Ross, executive member for housing explained: “The council will make the most of this funding to ensure its own investment goes even further.

“The new build programme supported by Scottish Government grant is one of a number of ways the council is making progress towards the target of providing 2700 homes in the Kingdom, including plans for 557 new homes through housing associations and the council new build, by 2015.”
