Alcohol fire link in 45 incidents in Fife

ALCOHOL played a part in 45 fires in Fife last year.

The statistic was revealed as part of a national campaign by Scotland’s fire services to try and get people to take the risks run by those who drink more seriously. In total, one in every six accidental house fires nationwide involved alcohol as a contributiry factor.

The fires led to 11 people being killed and 248 injured.

Fire chief David Dalziel said: “We urge people not to put themselves,, or others at risk by smoking, or cooking at home when they have had a drink.”
