The facility is being created for Glenrothes Strollers Football Club.

John Buchanan, chairman, said: “We are delighted to finally have all of the funding in place to make this dream a reality. The existing changing facilities are not fit for purpose and offer little incentive to get people involved with the Strollers.

“This new facility means less people will miss out on football’s fun, fitness and friendship opportunities.

“We’re pleased the value of what we deliver has been recognised and we’ll work hard to make this a fantastic community facility we can all be proud of. Work will start in the next few months and we hope to have the building ready by September.”

The project has received £300,000 as a one-off investment from Fife Council’s 2014/15 budget, £43,000 from the Glenrothes area local planning budget and £250,000 from sportscotland.

It has also received funding from the Robertson Trust, the Gannochy Trust, the Scottish Football Partnership and from club fundraising.
