A CARDENDEN teenager received a ‘highly commended’ award in the search for a charity’s ‘Young Volunteer of the Year’.
Amber Hamilton (16) was shortlisted as a finalist in the category at the PDSA’s annual volunteer award, for her work helping out at the charity’s Kirkcaldy High Street store.
The dedicated young helper was chosen for her outstanding passion and commitment to the charity, which she became involved with when she contacted her local volunteer centre as part of a school lesson.
Amber has been giving up her free time to help at the PDSA’s busy store, helping to raise funds for local sick and injured pets.
She was nominated for the award by Jacqueline Brown, assistant store manager, who had described Amber as one of the store’s “most committed volunteers”.
Amber recently received a ‘highly commended’ certificate in recognition of her efforts.
