In 2011 he won the second year Apprentice of the Year Award and the following year landed the overall Apprentice of the Year title.

This latest acolade completes a hat trick of APSE awards and confirms his status of the the nation’s best.

Andres told the Gazette: Andres said: “It’s been a privilege to do an apprenticeship with Fife Council and afterfour years of hard work this just feels like the icing on the cake”.

Alan Hill, Fife Council’s maintenance service manager said the latest awards is just a nother step in an already successful career.

“Building services pride themselves on the quality of our apprentices and Andres has really been one of our best, he has shown outstanding commitment and I am sure he will continue to be successful,” he added.

Cllr Lesley Laird, spokesperson for business, enterprise, economy and planning was quick to heap praise on Andres for his latest achievement.

She said: “Andres is a very worthy winner of this award and follows in the footsteps of many successful apprentices from Fife Council over the last seven years.

“Our success at these awards speaks volumes about the quality of our apprenticeship schemes.”

Cllr Laird added: “These schemes provide a way for the Council to tackle unemployment whilst generating a skilled workforce.

“This will benefit not only the Council but the whole community.”

The housing and building maintenance apprentice awards recognise those apprentices from across the country.

Credit is given for their aptitude and commitment to learning a range of skills within the housing and building sector.
