Hard on the heels of a phenomenally successful ‘Mr G MND’ fun run, friends of the popular teacher are preparing to take to the fairways in the next fundraising outing.

Mr G’s MND Charity Golf Day will take place on the Torrance Course at the Fairmont St Andrews on Sunday, November 8, and organisers are hoping the groundswell of community support shown for the fun run will continue.

The golf day is being planned by Madras College colleagues of maths teacher Donald Grewar, who has Motor Neuron Disease (MND).

Two weeks ago around 500 people took part in a fun run and another 500 turned out to support and help, raising more than £20,000 in the process.

The money was to support Donald and also for the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic, a research facility working on a wide range of neurological conditions.

Behind the run was 14-year-old Brynja Duthie, who brought the local community together in honour of her favourite teacher.

We would like to invite past pupils, parents and members of the local community to participate in a wonderful event.

“To continue the support for Donald we have organised the golf day and we would like to invite past pupils, parents and members of the local community to participate in a wonderful event,” said PE teacher Chris Martin.
