A POPULAR Anst-ruther chippy has battered all opposition. The Anstruther Fish Bar has won the Café of the Year for the region of Scotland in the prestigious annual Les Routiers in Britain Awards

Regarded as the crme de la crme of establishments in the food, drink and hospitality industries and recognised by the famous Les Routiers red and blue symbol, the award was announced at a sponsored gala dinner in London.

The judges said about the Fish Bar: "This light, bright and clean establishment regularly generates queues the length of the street but service is quick and efficient.

''Famous throughout Scotland, their fish and chips are served as fresh as can be and people travel for miles to sample the food.''

There were a total of seven categories in Les Routiers British Hotels and Restaurants, judged in six regions across the country, using feedback from the public together with regular reports by incognito inspectors in the field.
