Appeal for information after armed robbery in Lochgelly

Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in Lochgelly on Sunday.

The incident occurred at around 2pm when two men entered a flat in Melville Street, presented what appeared to be a small gun and robbed the two male occupants of a number of items including a Playstation 3 games console and games.

No shots were fired during the incident.

The first suspect is described as white skinned, around 5ft 9”, slim built and aged in his 30s.

He had short black hair, and was wearing a black hooded top, blue jeans and a dark woollen hat.

The second suspect is also white skinned, being around 5ft 6”, medium built and aged in his mid 20s.

He was wearing a light coloured hooded top and orange scarf.

They both spoke with a local accent.

Detective Inspector Des FitzGerald said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area on Sunday, particularly anyone who fits these descriptions.

“Similarly if you have been offered a Playstation 3 for sale, we would like to speak to you.”

Cowdenbeath Community Inspector, Ian Stephen added: “We recognise the impact this will have on local residents and we will have high visibility patrols in the Melville Street area of Lochgelly for the time being.

“Anyone with information or concerns can speak to one of the officers on patrol or contact police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
