Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault on a Dunfermline man.
Officers were called to New Row at around 1.50am on Sunday.
The 21-year-old man, who had sustained head injuries, has now been identified by police following an earlier appeal.
Enquiries are ongoing and a man is currently detained by police in connection with this incident.
Detective Inspector Chris Mill said: “The victim is currently in a serious condition and we’re working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
“I’d ask anyone who witnessed this incident, or has any information which can assist with the investigation, to come forward.”
