Appeal for witnesses following fatal weekend crash
A Citroen C4 was involved in a collision with a Land Rover Discovery on the southbound carriageway north of junction two at around 8pm.

Hide AdThe 29-year-old woman driving the Citroen was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman driving the Land Rover was taken to Victoria Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
A five-year-old girl and an 18-month-old boy, who were travelling in the Land Rover, also required hospital treatment, but neither is believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
Police closed the road overnight from 8pm on Saturday until 7am on Sunday to allow investigation work to be carried out.

Hide AdOfficers are currently working to establish the full set of circumstances that led to the collision and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Derek Allan, said: “Sadly, a 29-year-old woman has died as a result of this collision and her next of kin have been informed.
“A number of motorists have already come forward to assist us with our investigation and I thank them for their cooperation.

Hide Ad“However, our inquiries into this matter are very much ongoing and I today urge anyone who saw the collision or either vehicle prior to the incident itself to contact police immediately if not already done so.”
