£200K of improvements to play spaces in Levenmouth

Play spaces throughout Levenmouth are to be upgraded, after the local area committee agreed to spend £200,000 on improvements.

Levenmouth Area Committee agreed to the funding package after consultations with local residents.

The funding will see play area bases and redundant equipment removed from King George V Park; a play area and fencing installed at Durham Park in Lower Largo; new equipment installed at Sandwell Park play area in Buckhaven; phase three of improvements carried out at Letham Glen play area; improvements carried out at Victoria Park play area in Lundin Links; the creation of a trim trail for lower Buckhaven; the revamping of equipment and addition of new fencing and surfacing at Leven Prom play area; and improvements to the beach play area in Leven.

Part of the plan includes the removal of smaller, less well used sites to reduce the overall maintenance costs. Match funding will also be sought in a bid to increase the amount of money for the proposals.

Convener of the committee, Cllr Ken Caldwell said: “These areas provide not just safe play spaces for our children but also important meeting places in the community. Investing in these areas should increase footfall and community accessibility, and raise usage levels.”
