Well-known radio presenter Nigel Barden paid a visit to the East Neuk last Tuesday to launch the 2015 Farm Shop and Deli Awards at Ardross Farm Shop.

The Ardross shop was recently crowned ‘Farm Shop of the Year’ and ‘Retailer of the Year 2014’.

The business is run by Fiona and Rob Pollock and daughter Nikki Storrar (pictured above with Nigel), who have 22 locally based employees.

The Farm Shop and Deli Awards recognise the very best standards in the UK’s independent, speciality retail market.

With an expert panel joining chairman of the judges Nigel, the 2015 awards will celebrate the highest levels of service, product knowledge, initiative, innovation and community involvement. There are 13 categories, including a new ‘Retail Group’ award.

Jack Halliday, farm shop and deli show director, said that the introduction of the new category and increasing entrant numbers mirrors the growth in the UK farm shop and deli sector.

“This growth is being driven by great independent retailers and their high levels of customer service, product knowledge and community spirit,” he said.

“All these things set them apart from mainstream retail.”

Mr Halliday added: “The Farm Shop and Deli sector is delivering increased interest, passion and conversation in the UK food and drink market.

“What better platform than the Farm Shop and Deli Awards for business growth in the UK?”
