Police are investigating after an armed robbery in Kirkcaldy

Police are investigating after reports of an armed robbery at a Kirkcaldy bank this afternoon (Wednesday).

The incident happened at the Bank of Scotland in Carberry Road and there is currently a large police presence, including a helicopter and bomb disposal unit, in the area.

Reports on Twitter suggest people are currently stuck in traffic on the A92 and pupils have not been allowed to leave schools within the area.

A police spokesman said: “Police in Fife are in attendance following reports of an armed robbery at a bank on the Mitchelston Industrial Estate, Kirkcaldy.

“No-one has been injured in the incident.

“Inquiries are at an early stage.”
