Baby in critical condition as police attend incident at Buckhaven flats

Police are continuing to carry out enquires in Buckhaven after a baby was rushed to hospital in a critical condition on Sunday morning.

Officers arrived at a block of flats in the town early on Sunday morning and sections of West High Street were blocked off, as forensic officers began combing the area.

The police presence continued into the start of this week and the baby girl was said still to be critical in Edinburgh’s Royal Hopsital for Sick Children.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police in Fife were called to an address on West High Street, Buckhaven, around 12.30am on Sunday, February 14, following a report of concern for a child.

“A five-month-old girl was taken to the Sick Kids in Edinburgh, where she remains in a critical condition.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
