Clive Weatherhogg (42) was told at Dundee Sheriff Court that it was almost inevitable that the case would be remitted to the High Court, where the maximum sentence for his crime is life imprisonment. Sheriff George Way remanded him in custody.

He had denied on indictment three charges under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act, but a jury found him guilty of coercion and revenge porn charges.

During a five-day trial the court heard that Weatherhogg had coerced a woman into having repeated hotel sex liaisons with a man he found on the internet, made them film their romps then sent the video to the victim’s sister as her family sat down to their Christmas dinner.

He set up a series of hotel sex sessions for the woman and Edward Amobi, who he found through a website, over the course of a year, then made a string of extraordinary demands.

He also made the pair film their sessions when they refused to let him be in the room or live stream it over the internet.

Weatherhogg later uploaded a video of the pair having sex to the internet and sent it to the victim’s sister as she, the victim, and their entire family sat down to their Christmas dinner on December 25 2014.

The victim said Weatherhogg even specified positions for them to have sex in “like mechanical dolls” and Mr Amobi said that during one of the liaisons Weatherhogg had gone as far as to escort the pair to a hotel room and undress the woman before leaving them to have sex while he sat in the bar downstairs.

He added that he had later discovered a text on his wife’s phone from “Clive Cuckold” informing Mr Amobi’s wife of his romps with the woman.

In her evidence the woman said she felt “blackmailed” by Weatherhogg into having sex with Mr Amobi.

She told the jury: “He wanted to Facetime [video call] me while we were having sex but I wouldn’t agree to it. Then he said he wanted to phone and listen and if I wouldn’t agree to that then he wanted me to video it.”

Weatherhogg, giving evidence in his own defence, refuted any suggestion he had been the “driving force” behind the rendezvous and claimed to have met Mr Amobi only twice and that it was the victim who was pulling the strings.”

At the close of the evidence Weatherhogg admitted a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Sheriff Way deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports and remanded Weatherhogg in custody meantime.

He said: “I can’t have him at liberty when it’s perfectly clear that a very significant sentence will be imposed. It is almost inevitable that this will be remitted to the High Court.”
