The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a bearded dragon was found next to the Firth of Forth at Inverkeithing.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Tuesday, August 4 after the creature was discovered on rocks near the water.

The bearded dragon is now in the care of the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Balerno.

Kirsty McQuade, animal rescue officer said: “The beardie was found by two people who were walking their dog along the coastal path. They enlisted the help of passers-by to catch it and took it home to keep it safe until I arrived.

“I met them and transported the beardie to the vets for emergency fluids and heat. It is likely that if the dragon wasn’t found, it wouldn’t have survived the night. We are not sure if it has been dumped or if it has escaped from home.”

Anyone with any information should contact the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
