Local acts are being given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to support one of Scotland’s best-known bands later this year.

Kinross-shire Local Events Organisation (KLEO) has announced that this year’s Kinross-shire Winter Festival is to be headlined by Big Country - and now the search is on for the band or musician to appear on stage with them.

The band will bring the ‘Best of Big Country’ tour to Loch Leven Community Campus on November 21.

But would-be support acts only have a couple of weeks to be in with a chance of performing too.

To enter, musicians or bands must have at least one member resident in Perth and Kinross.

All they have to do is fill out the entry form on the KLEO Winter Festival website,, and provide a YouTube or sound file link of them performing a song, alongside details about their act.

Entries must be submitted before 5pm on May 1 and the five top acts will be chosen by an online vote.

The top finalists will then be invited to compete live in front of a panel of judges at an outdoor concert on the shores of Loch Leven at the ‘Gig at the Boathouse’ on June 9.

The winner will be announced the same evening.

Tickets for both concerts are available on the website as well as TicketWeb, Milnathort Post Office and Macbeth Currie in Kinross.
