Blaze hits food firm at former Guardbridge mill

A fire in Guardbridge on Saturday prompted fears that the old mill or Eden Mill brewery and distillery was aflame.

The alarm was raised at 3.37pm and two appliances were called out from St Andrews. apPolice also attended to manage traffic.

There was considerable smoke and the fire was found to have hit a polytunnel greenhouse, part of the True Baby business which grows miniature vegetables on part of the mill site.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus managed to contain the fire to the polytunnel and it was finally extinguished at 5.05pm, with the appliances leaving the scene 40 minutes later.

It is understood that the neighbouring Eden Mill brewery and distillery was not damaged.
