Body discovered in search for missing Kirkcaldy man

After an extensive search for missing Kirkcaldy man Stuart Craig, officers discovered a body in the harbour area of the town yesterday (Thursday).

Mr Craig (26) was reported missing last weekend, having been last seen near to Victoria Hospital on Friday, April 22.

An extensive search was launched during the week, involving the coastguard, RNLI and police helicopter.

Inspector Graeme Neill from Kirkcaldy police station said: “Sadly we have now confirmed that it is Stuart Craig and his family have been informed. Stuart’s family thank the public, police and everyone involved in the search for him and his mother wished the following statement to be issued through Police Scotland.

“Stuart was a much loved son, brother, nephew and grandson. He was a special person who fought a long battle for so long and now he is finally at peace.”

The family has asked for privacy at this time to come to terms with their loss.
