POLICE were called to the East Sands on Tuesday morning following the discovery of a man’s body by a dog walker at around 5.30am.
Pedestrians were prevented from walking on the beach while forensic experts were called in to move the body which had been covered with a white sheet. The disturbing scene was visible from the pathway overlooking the beach.
Forensic officers examined the body before moving it further inshore for further investigation.
The man is believed to be in his 60s, was heavily built with receding hair and wearing a light green top with dark blue trousers.
Detective Inspector Graham Fenton of Fife Police said that although the investigation is at the early stage, the death does not appear to be suspicious.
