The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after the body of a dog was found at the grounds of a school in Kirkcaldy.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted after the female German shepherd was discovered in undergrowth at St. Andrews RC High School on August 24.
Inspector Nicola Liddell said: “The dog was concealed under bracken in the grounds of the school and discovered by a staff member.
“She was quite badly decomposed and is estimated to have been dead for a matter of days when she was found.
“We know the dog was around 14-years-old as her date of birth was registered on her microchip.
“Unfortunately we have been unable to trace her owners via the chip and we are appealing to anyone with information to contact us.”
Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
