The body of a pensioner who had been reported missing was discovered in a Kirkcaldy street yesterday.
Police say the man, believed to be 83-year-old John Philbin, was found on a building site in Newtonmore Drive, in the Chapel Level area of the town. There were said to be no suspicious circumstances.
The pensioner, who is said to have had health issues, had been reported missing from his home on Wednesday afternoon.
A statement released by Police Scotland said: “Police in Kirkcaldy attended an address on Newtownmore Drive at 9.00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, following concerns for the safety of a man on the premises.
“Officers attended and found a local man in his 80s deceased. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a post-mortem will take place in due course. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
