A man has been arrested and charged in connection with housebreaking and bogus caller offences in Glenrothes last year.

Two elderly victims from separate addresses in the South Parks area were targeted back in December and a police enquiry was launched to trace the male responsible.

Enquiries into these incidents continued under Operation RAC and a 28-year-old subsequently appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court last week.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

Detective Inspector Steven Hamilton from Glenrothes CID leading the investigation said: “As part of Operation RAC we are proactively targeting those who prey on vulnerable residents in our community.

“Protecting vulnerable people is one of our key priorities in Fife Division and my officers and I will continue to target housebreakers and those involved in acquisitive crime.

“I would ask any person with any information regarding any crime to report it either by telephoning 101 and or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.”
