Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

I MUST admit that I found this award-winning book quite a challenge to read due to the multiple layers of mystery and intrigue that finally pull together and make sense in a dramatic finale.

Recently made into a major film, this novel centres around legendary secret agent George Smiley, recruited from retirement to root out a high-level mole.

He is therefore embarking on the near impossible duty of spying on the spies.

My persistence was worthwhile in the end as ultimately this is a superb tale of spies during the Cold War, but I think I will try and read it again in a shorter space of time, as I was coming back to it when I could but sometimes after days, therefore losing the thread of the intense story and the multitude of characters.
