St Andrews University international writer-in-residence Reif Larsen has chosen the town as the place to launch his new novel tonight (Tuesday).
‘I Am Radar’ takes readers around the globe and through history following the birth of Radar, a black child mysteriously born to white parents.
It has already been praised by The Washington Post as a “grandly ambitious masterpiece of geekhood” while the Financial Times described it as combining “formidable erudition with an ardent but sometimes giddy sense of humour”.
It follows on from Larsen’s critically-acclaimed debut novel ‘The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet’, an international bestseller which was shortlisted for
the Guardian First Book Award and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, and has now been made into a film.
The US author lives in St Andrews with his wife, who is a lecturer at the university, and young son.
The launch is being hosted by bookshop Topping & Company at 8pm - tickets price is redeemable against the book.
The bookshop is offering complimentary tickets to the first 10 St Andrews Citizen readers - enquire at the shop’s book counter on arrival.
