Bowling club reaches out to vandals with offer of fun days

Dovecot Park Bowling Club have reached out to the local community after suffering a bout of vandalism.

CCTV evidence identified young perpetrators causing damage to chairs, litter strewn over the green and an attempt to break the club’s safety glass.

Seeing an opportunity to encourage instead of punish the club invited the youngsters to take part in their summer fun days making use of equipment purchased through support from the Big Lottery funded project Our Place Auchmuty and Comic Relief,

“It was disappointing when we saw the vandalism, but we are here to work with the community and that’s why we have taken the steps we have rather than taking the issue further with the police,” said Mike Mowat, Community Connector and bowling club member. “We hope the kids are able to see that we care about the community and a mutual respect will grow from this situation and limit the impact of any future vandalism.”
