An 11-year-old boy has died following an accident at Lochgelly Raceway at the weekend.
Keir Millar, an experienced young driver from Lockerbie, was racing in a Ministox event at the Lochgelly track on Saturday when he was involved in an accident.
He was taken by ambulance initially to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy then transferred on to the Sick Children’s Hospital in Edinburgh with serious injuries.
Keir sadly passed away at around 4.00 p.m. on Monday.
A statement issued by police said: “The family of Keir Millar are extremely distraught at the passing of their son.
“He was a much loved son and brother and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.”
A race meeting scheduled for Friday at the venue has been cancelled.
The youngster took part in the Ministox racing series and last year won the Ninja Kart Championship in England aged just ten.
