It was triumph for the Buckhaven and Methil Miners Brass Band at the recent Scottish Championships in Perth as they finished in a commendable third position in the 4th section out of an entry of sixteen.
They were also the only Fife band to recieve an award over the weekend.
This placing means they have now achieved promotion and will compete in future in the 3rd section against a higher standard of brass band from across the country.
Following on from their success, the band is now busy preparing for the first of its two annual shows at Buckhaven Theatre, held in conjunction with local environmental charity CLEAR. The band will be hoping for another sold out performance as many people return time and time again to listen to the music.
The band meet to rehearse twice a week in the band-hall behind the Buckhaven Beehive, formally the Free Gardeners Hall.
Rehearsals are at 7.00p.m. on Sundays and 7.30p.m. on Wednesdays. Juniors are welcome from 6.00p.m. on Wednesdays, and instruments and tuition are provided to all ages and abilities.
