Bridge to be repaired

THE road bridge walls over the Keil Burn, north of Upper Largo are to be reconstructed.

Contractors T. & N. Gilmartin Ltd., from Cupar, will start work on Monday, December 3 and expect to be complete by mid-February.

The existing south east bridge wing wall collapsed in 2011 and on further inspection, further weaknesses were discovered on two other parts of the bridge.

The collapsed section has been protected during the intervening period, reducing the available width on this already narrow structure.

The bridge improvements will include the reconstruction of the wing walls and resurfacing of the road.

An improved drainage system will also be incorporated

The bridge will be closed to vehicles for the duration of the work, but pedestrian access will be maintained via a temporary footpath to the south of the bridge.

Every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience to the general public and any disruption will be kept to a minimum. For more information about the project, contact Graham Milne on telephone 08451 55 55 55 ext 444393.
