Kirkcaldy’s Beveridge Park played host to the Boys’ Brigade Scottish Cross-Country Championships at the weekend where over 200 runners representing teams from across Scotland took part in a host of races.
Local MP, and former member of the Kirkcaldy Boys Brigade, Gordon Brown, joined with the competitors at the park to welcome them to the town and presented the trophies at a ceremony held in Balwearie High School.
The annual event has been held across Scotland for almost 100 years and the Kirkcaldy Brigade participated in the first ever event held in Edinburgh.
Mr Brown said; “Kirkcaldy has a proud tradition of supporting the Boys Brigade and the Brigade has a proud tradition of service to the town. It is great to see so many young people here in Kirkcaldy today from all over Scotland enjoying sport in one of our great town parks”.
Mr Brown also met with long term captain of the Kirkcaldy Brigade John Methven MBE and praised the years of work and support that John has given to the Boys Brigade movement.
