Burntisland fundraising effort for memorial bench for Roy

Roy Paul (25), a coach driver, was killed just days before Christmas in a car crash on the A985 Kincardine to Cairneyhill road, a diversion route while the Forth Road Bridge was closed.

Maxine Walker (41), a mother-of-four from Burntisland and a friend of the family is helping Roy’s older brother Euan (27), to raise £1000 to buy a memorial bench which they hope to put in Burntisland cemetery near to Roy’s grave.

A Justgiving page has already surpassed its target of £600 target, currently sitting at £645, with Euan also organising a charity race night towards the remainder of the cost.

Maxine said: “Euan approached me as I did some fundraising like this in the past for a memorial garden at the new Burntisland Primary School. I was only too happy to help as we have known the family for years since our chidren were small. I can’t imagine what they are going through.

“People have been very generous so far and hopefully the bench will bring the family a bit of comfort when they go to the cemetery.”
