MP Lindsay Roy has welcomed Fife Council’s pledge to retain £2 million in its 10 year capital plan for the proposed Levenmouth rail link.

The council insists re-establishing the service remains a top priority, despite funding pressures which have seen other schemes removed, delayed or altered in order to address a shortfall of £127 million.

Mr Roy said the link is “rightly seen” as a priority: “I believe that Diageo is still exploring the possibility of using the line, which runs through its distillery at Cameronbridge, to transport goods in and out of the area,” he added.
