Fife Chamber of Commerce is searching for the brightest and best businesses in the Kingdom as it launches the Fife Business Awards 2012.

Held every two years, the Awards provide an opportunity for local businesses to demonstrate excellence and gain widespread recognition for their achievements.

It’s also a chance to showcase outstanding examples of how the business community is driving forward the local economy.

This year’s principal sponsor is the Fife Economy Partnership, and the Fife Free Press Group is the media partner for the awards.

Businesses of all sizes and sectors are invited to submit applications in one or more of the award categories.

John Kilgour, Fife Chamber president, said: “We are delighted to be organising the Awards this time round and we hope that our members and all other Fife businesses will support this significant initiative as we strive to celebrate the many successful businesses that exist in the Kingdom.”

Alan Russell, Fife Chamber chief executive, said finalists in the awards benefited from high levels of publicity and promotion.

And he encouraged the many quality businesses performing well in difficult economic conditions to highlight their achievements and successes by entering the awards.

“The publicity for the finalists, and ultimately the winners, is seen by customers as an endorsement of good performance, and it provides a boost to the people working in the business,” he said.

“There are many good businesses in Fife who keep their heads below the parapet. We’re not very good at blowing our own trumpet. But businesses need to tell people they are out there and what they are about and the awards are a great way of doing this.”

Chris Parr, chairman of the Fife Economy Partnership, added: “There are a large number of tremendous businesses within Fife and we would hope that as many as possible put themselves forward for one or more awards.

“Clearly the profile associated with these awards is highly attractive but so too is the motivational impact that they provide to newly formed businesses and to those who may be considering starting their own business.”

Application forms are available to download from the Fife Chamber of Commerce website.

The Awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 15 at Rothes Halls, Glenrothes and the evening will be hosted by comedian and BBC Radio Scotland presenter Fred McAulay.
