Fife in line for £20m hyrdro power project

Fife is being considered as a possible location for part of a £20 million Scottish Water hydro power scheme.

It is among 30 sites around the country being looked at by the company, which is aming to harness the flow created in existing pipes to power turbine to generate electricity and protect treatment plants from supply failures.

If successful, the project could cut costs for water treatment by 10 per cent.
