GLENROTHES hair stylist Janet Adamson has earned her colours by gaining a prestigious hair colouring award.
Janet, owner of Janet Adamson Hairdressing at the Cadham Centre, has been presented with a Wella Professionals Master Colour Award following an in-depth four part training course which included practical testing alongside a written exam.
Janet (49), who is also celebrating owning the Glenrothes salon for 25 years this year, told the Press she was “over the moon” when she found out she had passed her final exam with a fantastic 99.25 per cent mark.
“It was a really emotional moment when I found out I had passed so well, because you invest such a lot in it, both physically and emotionally.”
Janet had to undergo training at her own salon initially before undertaking four further sessions of training at Wella’s headquarters in Manchester within a set period before sitting the final practical and written exams.
She explained: “I have always done the training for all my staff and other people, so I felt it was time for me to do something for myself, and this was the one to aim for.
“I will now be able to pass my training on to the other eight staff in my salon.
“It is great for the salon as we can now display my certificate acknowledging I am a Master Colour Expert, and it offers our customers that something extra.”
There are only around 800 salons around the UK which hold the award, with only a handful in Fife.
Janet explained that the award was not just about hair colour.
“There were many different aspects to the course, including how it makes people feel to have their hair coloured, matching hair and eye colour to suit and lots of technical details too, so it was not just about applying colour to hair.
“I am absolutely delighted and this will mark a double celebration to go along with me owning the salon for 25 years.”
