KFC the fried chicken fast food outlet at Fife Central Retail Park is still closed this morning due to delivery problems.

The restaurant has not been open since close of business on Friday night, costing it thousands of pounds in lost takings.

Branches of the fast food restaurant the length and breadth of the country have been affected, with a statment from KFC’s head office blaming “teething problems” from a new delivery partner for the closures.

It said: “The chicken crossed the road, just not to our restaurants...”

A KFC spokesperson said: “We’ve brought a new delivery partner on board, but they’ve had a couple of teething problems – getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants is pretty complex.

“We won’t compromise on quality, so several of our restaurants in the UK are either closed, have a reduced menu, or shortened hours over the weekend.

“We won’t compromise on quality, so no delivery has meant that some of our restaurants are closed and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours.

“Shout out to our restaurant teams who are working flat out to get us back up and running again.”

KFC UK last updated its list of re-opened stores today (Feb 18) at 1.20pm - Kirkcaldy remains off the list.
