TWO students have decided to try and become a big noise in the Fife business world.

Alex Herbert and Alan Nicol who are currently studying at Adam Smith College have launched a company called Make Noise Fife with the aim of helping local people to make their way in the music industry.

The pair who are studying sound engineering and production decided to go into business for themselves after spotting a gap in the market and are launching Make Noise Fife with a music convention in May.

Alex said: “The Fife music scene is dying off. We want to help create a big network and get people out there.

“If people need advice or help in which direction to take if they want to pursue a career in music, film, television or radio, we can show them what to do.

“We’re here to help no matter what age people are. This isn’t just for up-and-coming young bands.”

Both Alex and Alan have strong backgrounds in their field having both played in bands and know the music scene well.

Alan said: “We’re looking to secure some funding to help us get a premises of our own. Hopefully the convention will help us do that.

“There will be a lot of people coming along on the day from the music industry and bodies such as the PRS so it’ll be an excellent networking opportunity.

“We’ll also have lots of interactive events throughout the day aimed at everyone from all sorts of musical backgrounds.”

The Make Noise Fife Music Convention will take place at St Bryce Kirk, Kirkcaldy on May 19 at 12.00 p.m. Tickets are £6.
