A GLENROTHES woman is turning a lifelong hobby into a new business venture by opening her own cake shop in Kirkcaldy.

Lynne Davidson (27), from Glenrothes has been a keen baker all her life and, after being inundated with requests from family and friends, she has decided to put her talents to good use.

Lynne’s Cake Emporium will open its doors at 114 St Clair Street, on Saturday, when people can pop in to see the fantastic creations Lynne can make.

The shop’s opening hours will be Mondays and Tuesdays 1.00-5.00 p.m. and Saturdays 11.00 a.m.-5.00 p.m. where customers can pop in for a meeting, to chat or to ask for a quote. Customers can also arrange an appointment to suit, outwith these hours.

Lynne explained: “I became really interested in cake art around six years ago when I started making more elaborate cakes for friends and family.

“I really enjoy a challenge so it was fun for me to attempt to create cakes that were much more exciting than you could buy in the supermarkets. I have a background in art and have been very creative and artistic from an

early age, so cake art became a natural progression for me as I was able to combine my passions for art and baking.

“More and more people began asking me to make cakes for birthdays and weddings, so it seemed like the perfect

time to put a real business plan into place. The shop in St Clair street was the perfect location for me as it was very central.

“I share premises with B&M Financial which is a company owned by my father, so you could say it is a real family business. I am really looking forward to opening up and I hope lots of people will pop in to say hello.”
