WAID Academy took top honours at this year’s Investment Challenge for schools competitions, held in Dundee.
Anstruther team members Callum Stott and Geoff Murray won the £500 prize for their school in a three-way battle with Balwearie and Blairgowrie High Schools.
The boys said it had been a fantastic opportunity to represent the school and that they felt very proud to have won the investment challenge. They added that, although it had been a tough competition, team work had pulled them through.”
The competition is a joint initiative funded by Dundee hosts BNP Paribas, Skills Development Scotland and Scottish Investment Operations, in partnership with 10 Lane Learning.
The scheme enables pupils to apply their knowledge of maths, business and economics, and helps them to develop their communication, problem-solving, decision making, team building and negotiation skills. The initiative offers a unique engagement opportunity between schools and companies, and aims to help pupils leave school prepared for the world of work with the capabilities and confidence to handle future higher education and career decisions.
