When Sharon Richardson’s ex husband told their daughter he was planning on selling the Carousel pub and coffee shop he owned, she jokingly told her family that they could take it on.

That was back in May last year, and last week saw the opening of Harbour View bistro, the first part of the new business venture in Kinghorn which will be run by Sharon and husband Ian, with her eldest daughter Kristie O’Keefe (26) managing it.

The bistro is situated on the top floor of the former Carousel building, and the second phase, a newly refurbished pub, is due to open tomorrow (Friday).

And her middle daughter Karli (24), a nursery nurse will be helping out in the bar, while youngest daughter Mya (11), is also keen to help out where she can.

And with her older daughters’ partners both carrying out the refurbishment work, the new business venture has proved to be a real family affair.

“It has been great so far and I would like to thank everyone in Kinghorn for their support,” said Sharon, who is making a complete career change after 30 years in the motor trade.

“This place was a big part of my childhood, and there used to be an amusement arcade, crazy golf and trampolines where we spent our spare time, so it’s great to be running my own business from here.”
