ELECTION fever is about to grip Glenrothes with the announcement of the candidates for the forthcoming Ward 15 by-election on June 20.

The people of Glenrothes North, Leslie and Markinch will have the opportunity to elect a new councillor for their ward following the death of the Labour Councillor Bill Kay recently.

Currently the committee consists of five Nationalist and five Labour members, with the casting vote currently being held by vice chairman Ian Sloan, a Labour councillor.

A win for either party will mean outright control for many aspects of the future decision making process affecting Glenrothes.

“I want to see this area prosper and offer a bright future for our families.”

Current Leslie Community Council chairman John Wincott said: “I worked with Bill Kay on many local issues and I am very proud to have been selected to fight this seat as the Labour candidate.
